Frequently Asked Questions

Unfortunately there is no one “cure” for tinnitus. However, there are a few management options that can drastically improve your perception of tinnitus. We can test for tinnitus during your hearing evaluation and come up with a management plan that will provide you with relief from tinnitus.

Hearing aids receive sound through a microphone and transmit it into the ear through a speaker. Your hearing aids will be programmed by our hearing specialists to provide you with the perfect amplification to help you hear sounds. The hearing aid system is complex, but on a basic level hearing aids amplify sounds while filtering out background noise.

If you have Bluetooth hearing aids, connecting to your iPhone is easy.

  1. First make sure your Bluetooth is turned on by going into “Settings” then to “Bluetooth” on your iPhone.
  2. Make sure your hearing aids are powered on so your iPhone can detect them.
  3. Go to “Settings” then “General” and then “Accessibility.”
  4. Once you’re in “Accessibility” scroll down and select the “MFI Hearing Devices” option.
  5. Select the name and model of your hearing aid when it appears. There will be a checkmark next to it once it’s connected.
  6. Select “Pair” to complete the connection. Note: if you are connecting two hearing aids you will receive two pairing requests.
  7. You’re all set. Enjoy music, phone calls, and more!

Real ear measurement is a verification tool used to ensure your hearing aids are providing you with the right amplification. We use real ear measurement to measure the sound pressure level in your ear canal when you are wearing hearing aids. This allows for optimal hearing from your devices.

Cerumen impaction, or earwax blockage, is when earwax builds up inside the ear canal and causes discomfort or muffled hearing. Impacted cerumen can cause temporary hearing loss, so it’s important to have your ears examined if you suspect earwax is causing a problem with your hearing.

Tinnitus can affect your hearing test by making it harder for you to identify certain words and pitches associated with the test. If you suspect you have tinnitus (ringing in the ears), let us know before the hearing test. This way we can identify if your tinnitus is affecting your speech comprehension.

Whether you enjoy hunting or going to the shooting range, it’s important to protect your hearing. Firearms produce loud impact sounds that can damage your hearing after just one time. Hunting hearing aids (electronic shooting products) will protect your ears while allowing you to hear the soft sounds around you. If you are an avid hunter, it’s important to wear hearing aids for hunters to ensure your ears are safe.
